At Yoga Sounds, we believe in the healing transformation of yoga, sound, mindfulness, and meditation - that every body can find their path to peace. Yoga and sound can provide many benefits like stress reduction, enhanced concentration and focus, improved sleep, relieved anxiety, quieting the mind, emotional balancing, increased body awareness and health, and deepened relaxation.
Many people say they cannot do yoga, but we believe yoga is simply being. Anyone can practice yoga in a way that brings harmony to their mind and body. Yoga is the union of individual consciousness with the Universal Consciousness, with the goal of self-realization - not landing a perfect downward dog pose.
Sound has the ability to affect your mood, nervous system, brain waves, and physical being. Sounds are vibrations that create waves through matter such as air, water, or solids. Your eardrums vibrate in response to sound waves, travel through to your inner ears, and are then converted into nerve signals that the brain interprets as sound. While the science of hearing sound is complex, the philosophy is much simpler. We believe that sound has the ability to balance and harmonize the body, mind, and spirit. The vibrations of sound can have a powerful effect on the body and can improve your focus and mood, lessen stress and anxiety, and cultivate spiritual growth.
Hi, I'm Anna, a 200 hour registered yoga teacher. I started practicing yoga after the birth of my first child when I suffered a debilitating back injury. I have continued to seek healing and peace through exploration of yoga and found a way to not only bring physical relief, but a way to calm, center, and focus my mind. Through my continued practice, I found the beautiful sounds of metal singing bowls, and experienced even more healing through sound.
I've practiced yoga since 2006, and in 2022 I deepened my practice by completing yoga teacher training at Yoga Centric in Bel Air, MD. Since then, I've continued additional study of Yin and Restorative yoga specializations through ongoing learning.
I heard a Tibetan Singing Bowl played in person for the first time in 2010. Since then, I've become entrenched with learning more about the history, science and healing properties of sound. Over the years, I've collected many more instruments such as crystal singing bowls, drums, rain sticks, chimes, bells, the gong, and more to grow my practice and bring soothing sounds to more spaces and people.
I invite you to join me as we practice being present on the path to self healing - integrating emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing through yoga, sound, mindfulness, breath, and meditation.
